Here is a glorious compilation of blues from this years International Blues Competition in Memphis, Tennessee. This is a pairing between The Blues Foundation and Frank Roszak Productions. You can get this at www.blues.org and it’s called “International Blues Challenge #33 CD.” This is the 33rd year they have had this worldwide competition, and presented here are 14 of the very top contenders! Band winner Dawn Tyler Watson’s, “Shine On” Starting the CD off right! Also featured is Al Hill winner of the Solo/Duo competition with some fabulous piano on “Don’t Dig Today.” There are 14 cuts on here and every one is strong. You can hear every style of blues that’s out there today with the best contemporary artists at the event! Sugar Brown ends the CD with “Meet Me In The Country,” and it is great! The Sobo Blues Band does the “Catfish Boogie” to the approval of all! King Bee does “Dangerous” and it will blast you out of the room! Johnny Fink & The Intrusion will shuffle you right out into the road with his “Let’s Hear Some Blues.” Randy McQuay’s “Til I Get To Memphis” is a slide monster! We go back to the future with a sweet tune by Brody Buster’s One Man Band offering of “2029.” I have listened to it several times and every time I get so far, pick up my guitar, and play along!
