Altered Five Blues Band – Charmed & Dangerous

August 2017

Now I know that the blues will never die, but every once in a while a band comes up with some crazy good stuff!  That’s the case with the newest album by the Altered Five Blues Band, “Charmed & Dangerous.”  This is the fourth full-length album by this Milwaukee based super band!  Jeff Taylor has the blues voice we all love and Jeff Scroedl’s guitar work is spot on!  Taylor just blasts out the strong and heavy blues we associate with the real thing.  Powerful, loud and clear, no prisoner approach to the real thing!  Jeff Taylor leaves no blues stone unturned on this one!  Jeff Scroedl’s guitar work will churn up the ocean.  If you live on the coast, don’t turn it up all the way!  Then again go ahead.  Damn the tsunami anyway!  They had the “Best Self-Produced CD,” at the 2015 International Blues Challenge!  Their third album “Cryin’ Mercy,” garnered two Blues Blast Award nominations, and five WAMI Award nominations!  That CD made it to #3 in the iTunes blues store, and a #1 ranking on the Roots Music Report blues album chart.  In 2014 they won the “Artist of The Year,” award at the WAMI Award Show!  So far this year they have contributed a track to a Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute album, and give us this wonderful CD “Charmed & Dangerous.”  www.alteredfive.com  Available on iTunes, and  through Amazon.  Get it!  Everything you are looking for in the blues is here!  Great stuff.  And I’m hard to please!  Oh yea, thirteen original songs that are way more than pleasing to the ear and soul!  You got that much blues in ya’, it got to come out!  Thanks so much!  Enjoy at your extreme leisure my beautiful friends!  One Love – Blue Barry – Smoky Mountain Blues Society.
