Willa Vincitore – Better Days

I love a CD that just gets better and better the farther you get into it.  I think you just get caught up in the groove, and find yourself comfortable there.  That’s certainly the case with Willa Vincitore and her newest CD “Better Days.”  So here you go….www.willaandcompany.com  Willa is an ace singer/songwriter having honed her skills with the Chris O’Leary Band.  While there she did vocals for three of O’Leary’s albums, one of which won a Blues Blast’s Best New Artist Award in 2011.  Well she’s out on her own and she is   strutting her stuff.  Chris O’Leary blows some harp, Lee Falco plays drums, Brandon Morrison on bass, Christ Vitarello on guitar, add to the great mix.  Can’t forget Jay Collins on saxophones and horn arrangements, and Petey Hop on acoustic guitar.  Scott Milici adds some great keyboards.  But Willa is the lead singer and she is fabulous!  She’s been compared to Shemekia Copeland, Bonnie Raitt and Susan Tedeschi, with a spoonful of Janis Joplin thrown in the mix.  Call it what you want, she delivers.  Great voice, effortless, clear and clean, compassionate and just enjoyably powerful.  With twelve cuts she sings every one of them, and wrote every one of them as well.  Lots of music here.  Not only great vocals but real musicians playing.  I’m sure you recognize lots of names already.  She never gets in a hurry, and just delivers the goods right to your head!  The band lays a groove so deep that she just can’t get out of it.  You can’t either.  You catch yourself falling deeper and deeper into her vocals.  Thanks for that!  The songs are mostly four and five minutes long too.  Willa Vincitore – Better Days.  Worth the price of admission!  What a voice!  What a band!  Say What?  Willa Vincitore!  More than you expect!  Enjoy, Blue Barry – Smoky Mountain Blues Society.
