Veteran Blues rocker and harmonica wizard, Michael “Crawdaddy” Crawley, has been a mainstay of the Knoxville music scene since the 1990s when he was the leader of Crawdaddy and then The MacDaddies. Afterwards, he joined forces with Jenna & Her Cool Friends who reached the semi-finals at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis while representing East Tennessee and the Smoky Mountain Blues Society. When Jenna Jefferson retired from the music scene to spend more time with her family, Crawley formed a new band, Crawlspace, a rocking, Blues and funk project, which included several of the Cool Friends as well as others. With Crawley (vocals/harmonica), Ben Maney (piano), Kevin Redding (drums), Aram Takvoryan (bass), Barry “Po” Hannah (guitar), and Stevie Jones (organ/guitar/vocals), they have enough talent and synergy that it’s been said that the sky is the limit for Crawlspace!

Michael “Crawdaddy” Crawley is one of the hardest working men in the Knoxville music scene. In addition to leading the band, Crawlspace, and playing key roles in two others, Tennessee Sheiks and Y’uns Jugband, he also leads another band, Crawdaddy Jones. Originally formed as a duo, with Stevie Jones as the other half on acoustic guitar and vocals, they represented East Tennessee and Smoky Mountain Blues Society in Memphis at the International Blues Challenge in the solo/duo division. They still perform as a duo, as well as a trio, with Ben Maney on piano, or even a 4-piecewith Aram Takvoryan on bass. Consisting of a musical mix of soulful blues, folk and rock they bring passion and energy to what they do, and for this evening’s performance, we’re likely to see all three of these permutations.
